"Helping my community with science!"
Our Citizen science project has three main goals for community member participation in Baltimore:
- Individuals will be able to discuss the existence of green spaces in their neighborhood;
- Individuals will engage in community mapping of neighborhood resources (both ecological and social);
- Individuals will be engaged in generating relevant and critical questions about local disamenities, including pests, and they will engage in gathering evidence to use in support of explanations and advocacy. (Learn about Civic Ecology by clicking here)
These goals will be achieved by activities such as: community gardening and trash removal, local surveying, multigenerational discussions (school children, teachers, parents, grandparents), learning basic advocacy principles, and data gathering and visualization.
